At The Moment

Hello March! February was this non-stop hazy cloud of sickness for us. It made its rounds, trickling from one child to the next. We had four birthday celebrations last month. Madelyn turned 12 and Lana hit double digits with her 10th birthday! Our nephew/cousin turned one and my brother had his 35th. Lana was sick for hers but she made it up the following weekend with a sleepover party with her friends. Unfortunately, the sickness had finally hooked its claws into me by Valentine's Day, lasting the entire weekend. That weekend marked the 17th anniversary of the first date my husband and I ever went on. We celebrated with me in bed nauseous with a migraine. Pretty sexy, I know.

Tomorrow, my third baby turns 7!  She's been counting down the days for over a week. Each day she would recalculate and let me know how many days were left. We have ladybug plates and decorations with tacos on the dinner menu. Family will be joining us to celebrate tomorrow night with cake and ice cream and fun. I hope she has the best birthday a seven year old can have!

Earth Hour 2009 Photos

We started the night off with a big planting session! My Mom had organized pots and dirt with Marigold Scarlet Starlets for the girls to plant! Sophia was expecting them to sprout immediately but she will have to be patient.




My Dad recently bought a Black and Decker Power Monitor. We learned that the house went from expending $.41 an hour down to $.07 an hour during Earth Hour. The reason behind the $.07 that remained in the darkness was from vampire energy.

Vampire energy is all the electricity that plugged-in home electronics and appliances suck out of the power grid even when we are not using them. I figured that just this $.07 an hour of energy, from things not even in use, would cost my parents a little over $613 a year! Amazing!

During Earth Hour, we enjoyed Dark Chocolate Hershey Kisses and a Blackout Cake by candlelight and ended playing Ouija Board. Apparently the spirits weren't with us last night, but we certainly had a good time despite it.

The Fanciest Fancy Nancy Party!

Lana turned 6 yesterday! In Kindergarten, the class sung her the Birthday song and she got to wear the birthday crown for the whole day! Each classmate shook her hand and then gave her birthday wishes! This is huge stuff for a girl turning 6!

Her party was a Fancy Nancy theme! We bought all her decorations online at Celebrate Express. Great site! I think she probably cleaned up on every Fancy Nancy gift that I could find at Target. She loved everything... being the fancy girl that she is!


Check out the awesome cake my sister, Hannah, designed and baked for Lana! It was quite a hit! The top layer was vanilla and the bottom was chocolate. She made the hearts and flowers, as well as the crown for the top, out of fondant. It was quite the masterpiece! :)

The butterflies that were fluttering out of the top of the cake were also magnets! Now we can remember Lana's fanciest of days with all those colorful butterflies flying across our refrigerator!


Another birthday over..on to Sophia. She'll be turning three in March! Whew!
